G7 releases updated Ranking including Kode5 and DTS Cup

With both, Kode5 Finals and DTS Cup being played, it is time to release the llatest version of the G7 ranking.

While Fnatic is comfortable on 1st spot, SK was able to pass mTw for 2nd place. Aside from that Wicked entered the ranking with a 9th position now, pushing EG.US out of the Top 10.
On a sidenote it is important that the ranking was slightly shaped: Wicked had to start with 0 points though both ESWC Korea and Kode5 were handled as if MYM was still active and therefore brought points to the ranking. This was an exception due to the fact the same team that was formerly known as MYM was part of the competition. It is all displayed in the .xls file.

G7 Ranking Updates after ESWC Korea for CS 1.6

ESWC Masters in Korea is just finished and the G7 ranking is being updated to provide the latest results and their outcome for the upcoming Kode5 finals in Moscow.

By winning the title, Fnatic climbs on top of the ranking again and pushes mTw on 2nd position, while SK Gaming is getting closer to them with their silver medal from Korea. Mousesports underlines their #4 position with a strong 3rd place at the event. The biggest surprise though is Alchemists from Norway, a team that has not been listed in the ranking before. Their premiere features the new team at #11.

WC3 Ranking update after ESWC Masters Cheonan

After the latest WC3 competition at ESWC Masters in Cheonan, Korea, the G7 ranking is being updated with several changes due to the results at the event:

This update pushes SK.Lyn on #2 position in the ranking, taking this slot from WE.Sky. The most remarkable jumps are for ngize.Lucifron who climbs 17 positions to #8 with his victory in Korea and EG.Happy who gains 8 positions ending up at #11 now. read more

G7 Teams Issue Event Warning for Project eSports

Several weeks ago, an event organizer under the name "Project eSports" (www.projectesports.com) announced that it would be holding a large-scale eSports event in Las Vegas, USA from 12/29/09 to 1/3/10. The event, dubbed "The $300,000 eSports World Summit," was advertised to have the corporate support of such companies as Intel, NVidia, and SteelSeries.

After conducting a significant investigation regarding the sponsorship claims of Project eSports, the G7 has determined that said claims are false and that Project eSports has no official relationships with any of the advertised companies. Additionally, attempts on the part of the G7 to contact Project eSports have not been responded to. Therefore, it is the G7's conclusion that "The $300,000 eSports World Summit" is a false event.

Correspondingly, the G7 strongly recommends that all individual players and teams withhold from buying tickets and/or reserving tournament slots at this event.

G7 Ranking Updates

For the upcoming ESWC Korea and Kode5 Final Event, it is time to present the updated rankings for both, CS and WC3. Several changes are to be mentioned within the rankings in the first place:

MYM was set inactive, meaning they are listed in the Excel sheet, but marked yellow, meaning they do not count unless they become active as an organisation again.

col was set active again after the team started to play actively again and no CGS boundaries are in place no more.

Joan Merlo aka ToD is set inactive, as he announced his retirement.

This leaves the rankings with the following results right now:

MYM to leave G7 teams

Today, the G7 Teams are faced with the difficult task of announcing the departure of a long-time valuable member organization from our ranks. Team Meet Your Makers (MYM), as of today, has officially been removed from the G7 Teams. The G7 Teams had hoped that MYM would survive its most recent attempted transition; however, with the MYM organization and brand's recent troubles, as well as the bankruptcy of ESNation, it became increasingly evident that it was no longer suitable to keep MYM as a G7 member.

"This is certainly a difficult moment for the G7," remarked Alexander T. Muller, one of the federation's senior and founding members. "MYM, as represented by Mark "Mercy" Fries, was an extremely productive and important member in his time with the G7 Teams. However, while it isn't easy to dismiss such a significant presence as the MYM brand, this decision was made swiftly and with much certainty. The G7 Teams will continue to move forward and fulfill our organization's mission."

With the removal of Meet Your Makers, the G7 Federation of Teams currently consists of seven members: Craig "Torbull" Levine (on an individual basis), as well as compLexity, Evil Geniuses, Fnatic, Made in Brasil, Mousesports, and SK Gaming.
